“LWM Studios to Release Short Film”

LWM Studios, a brand new Film and TV Studio in Birmingham, Alabama, will be releasing its first official original short film in October 2008. The film features some of the top actors working in the local area and takes the viewers on a strange trip through a pet shop in a fictional town called Weirdville. The script and film were personally financed by Layne McDonald, a 28 year-old filmmaker, award winning published author, actor, and the owner of LWM Studios.

The Pet Shop, shot in Alabaster and Hoover, has a four year history of production. The actual footage was completed in the Summer of 2004. Personal tragedy kept this ambitious independent filmmaker from completing his “passion” project and has taken him until now to get back on his feet. He sees the completion of this production as a victory over the trials that he has faced in the last five years. “This has been a passion project, a way to let go of the past and embrace the future.” The bright blue eyed filmmaker remarked while sipping on a cold mocha at his favorite local Birmingham coffee shop.

Layne McDonald graduated from Hoover High School in 1999 and then went to film school. After graduation, he took a job as an editor and camera operator in Atlanta, Georgia for a local television show. In 2003, he returned to Birmingham, Alabama, where he began his career as an Assistant Producer, Avid Editor, Freelancer and created his own production studio. The young professional has racked up over 2,500 productions in film, television, and radio. This is twice as much more than most of the professionals twice his age!

He finally got his shot in the Summer of 2005, when he started hosting his own television program. This local show turned into two programs, then a radio show, then a full scale production studio. Everything seemed to be looking up, but then, personal tragedy hit him during 2006. He almost lost everything. He took a year to gather himself, by moving to Nashville, Tennessee, surrounding himself with his friends, and seeking out healing through his faith. January 2008, he returned, ready to make a change through media.

“The studio is making some great productions, but we are also reaching out to the inner-city youth, as well. They also deserve a chance to make movie magic and television shows.”

This short film will be the first of many planned and will be a tool used to let the inner-city youth be apart of productions, learn the traits, and be apart of something that the whole family can enjoy. LWM Studios looks to be on its way as a premier production studio and resource for communities wanting to give children a chance.

The Pet Shop will be released in early October 2008. Plans are to premier it at the South City Theater, in Alabaster, Alabama, and launch it into a national circuit of independent film festivals. Layne McDonald is scheduled to speak about the studio and how they will create a “Hollywood” of the south through LWM Studios.

More on the release date in the next official press release from LWM Studios. For more information about this production studio, go to www.lwmstudios.com.

Film School and God

It has been a while since I have updated these blogs. It has been a very busy road to Hollywood and I am loving every minute of it. The blessings I have been given, just getting out here are amazing, and now it is time to show what I can do. This is my first week in the LA FILM SCHOOL and it has been very interesting. After eight years of being out of school (last one being the Art Institute of Atlanta) and running my own studio for the past ten years, it is really hard to get back into the groove of school. It is slower that I am use too, but that should prove to be a good thing, as I am able to work on tons of projects at once and help out as many other students as possible. It is great to meet other Classmates with the same faith focus as I do. I pray God uses us all to do mighty projects that will help many people in need. My main goal is to make the best projects with great meaning to them. If these projects can go to film festivals, speak to the hearts of the culture and h

Changing Hollywood for Families

IndieCross Studios was formed to change Hollywood for families. Period. That is the reason for everything we do. The first episode of our new webisode series, "Makin It LA" is exactly that. From networking with passionate writers, actors, and filmmakers, to making films that they can showcase their talent with. From talking to families and viewers to see what they want to give them high-quality alternatives delivered straight to their televisions, computers, and mobile devices. This is a brand new way of doing "Hollywood". We are listening to the viewers, giving artists an outlet, and distributing the films directly to the people who want them. If you want to join the cause, go to www.indiecross.com, find out more about us, and get involved. We are changing lives in Hollywood, giving families what they want and building a "new way" of doing films. :) Layne McDonald
